  • Manama, Feb.24 (BNA): His Highness Major Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Commander of the Royal Guards Special Force in Bahrain Defence Force, met with several companies and institutions that wish to participate in Bahrain International Defence Exhibition and Conference 2017 (BIDEC), which will be held under the kind patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. 
  • The BIDEC Team visited IDEX 2017 last week with delegates from Bahrain Defence Force to spread awareness of the show. IDEX is the Middle East’s largest defence and security exhibition and presented a powerful promotional opportunity for BIDEC 2017.

  • Commander-in-Chief of Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) Field Marshal Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa paid a visit Thursday to a BDF unit and got informed about its administrative and military readiness as well as its preparation and training programs. He praised the efforts of the unit’s personnel, their vigilance and keenness to fulfill their duties perfectly, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.
  • Manama, Feb. 5 (BNA): The Shura Council has congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa the Supreme Commander, His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister on the 49th anniversary of Bahrain Defence Force (BDF).
  • The US State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for 74K Persistent Threat Detection System (PTDS) Aerostats and related equipment, support, and training. The estimated cost is $525 million.

  • The Royal Saudi Air Force announced that the F15-Saudi Advance (SA) fighter was put into commission, among other air combat fighters, as part of the Air Force plans to upgrade its fleet of fighter jets, ushering in a new era in the capabilities and readiness of Saudi Arabia's air force.

  • The Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defense Force (BDF), Field Marshall Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, received in Bahrain on Thursday UK’s First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Sir Philip Jones, in the presence of the BDF Chief of Staff, Lieutenant-General Dhiyab bin Saqr Al-Nuaimi.

  • Bahrain based Gulf Aviation Academy (GAA) has announced its recent addition to its training capacity through Maritime Training, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

    The Maritime program was established in response to the need in the industry for certificated training through the Ports and Maritime Affairs (PMA), the first of its kind in the Kingdom.

  • Education and military expenditures take the top two spots in Saudi Arabia’s 2017 budget, which estimates a spending of SR890 billion ($237.3 billion), an 8% increase from 2016.

    Revenue is projected to reach SR692 billion ($184.5 billion) in 2017, a 31% increase from initial projections. The budget deficit is expected to reach SR198 billion in 2017, reflecting 7.7% of the GDP. The budget projects a record 33% decrease in the Kingdom’s national deficit.

  • The Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) is the previously unidentified country that acquired the EXPAL EIMOS 81 mm integrated mortar system, a photograph released by the Egyptian military on 19 December has confirmed.
  • The first of 152 Boeing F-15SA (Saudi Advanced) Eagle fighters arrived in the Kingdom on 13 December.

    Images showing the initial four aircraft, comprising two remanufactured F-15S (93-0857 and 93-0899) and two newbuild F-15SA platforms (12-1006 and 12-1010), arriving at King Khalid Air Base (KKAB) in Saudi Arabia were posted online following a four-day ferry flight from the United States via the United Kingdom. A further two aircraft are expected to begin the journey imminently.

  • As the UK marks 200 years of close ties with Bahrain this year, the Royal Marines have taken part in the Pearl Dagger exercise and to reinforce UK commitment to the wider region.
